Decorative paper fan - Goshoguruma

US$37.00

Details & Origin

Decorative fans are designed to be appreciated for their beauty, just like a little painting. Just like kimono and obi materials, the motifs represented can be seasonal, or, like on this fan, combining different seasons with other traditional elements, making it very suitable for celebrations. The Gosho-guruma (imperial car) is a very commonly used motif in the world of kimono. You can see some examples from my personal collection below. Here the cart is surrounded by cherry blossoms and red momiji leaves, both very appreciated by the aristocrats during the Heian Period.

Composition

  • hand-painted Japanese washi paper

  • painted bamboo structure

  • gold leaves flakes

Condition

Used. This item shows signs of use but is not damaged. Good condition overall.

Size

  • Folded: 28 x 3,5 cm / 11 × 1,4 in

  • Open: 28 × 45 cm / 11 × 17,7

Bamboo stand not included.
