This fan is made of lacquered bamboo, and handpainted washi paper covered with gold leaves.
Two types of wave patterns are beautifully mixed all over its surface. One of them reminds us of the famous Great Wave of Kanazawa by ukiyo-e artist Hokusai, and the other is the traditional seigaha motif, an ancient Chinese pattern representing waves arranged like fish scales.
