Bumbag - Bamboo sunset shades

US$130.00

Mikan original creation.

This bum bag is a combination of antique Japanese textiles and new materials. It is handcrafted in my studio in Kyoto.

Details

The main fabric comes from an antique obi and is made of silk. The motif represents bamboo grass, an auspicious pattern. A thin layer of gold leaf is applied in some places, in order to restore the ancient fabric and cover small stains. You can see a bit of the process in the last 2 photos. It is inspired by the technique of kintsugi, which consists of fixing broken ceramics while embellishing them with gold powder.

The back of the bag is made in a lightweight 3D mesh which allows the bag to take minimum space when not full and perfectly fit against your body.

The adjustable strap allows you to wear it as a bum bag or a crossbody bag.
