Bumbag - Mandarin ducks
Mikan original creation.
This bag combines antique Japanese textiles and new materials. It is handcrafted in my studio in Kyoto.
Features
Sturdy and lightweight, this bumbag keeps your belongings within easy reach when your hands are busy.
The front of the bag is made with antique obi silk and is covered with a protective treatment to help the silk live longer. The back is made in a lightweight and resistant 3D mesh. The adjustable belt allows you to wear it around your waist/hips or across your chest.
It is roomy and the soft back fabric allows the bag to adapt to your body shape when not too full. When you need to pack more, a small water bottle, a book etc. it expands to make more space.
Motif and fabric details
The motif represents mandarin ducks, an important symbol for lovers, often displayed on formal kimono and obi. The birds are woven with colourful details and the background is completely covered by subtle geometrical motifs as well.
This fabric is also available for custom order if you wish to have a different design made with it. You can read more details at the bottom of the page.
