Bumbag - Village in the Snow

US$130.00

Original Mikan creation: each piece is a blend of old Japanese textiles and new technical fabrics, designed and handcrafted in my Kyoto studio.

Motif and fabric details

This beautiful fabric is woven with silk and lamé. It represents scenes of the ukiyo-e artist Utagawa Hiroshige's famous print series, "The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido." On top of the bag, we can see Station 15: Kanbara (a village in the snow), and on the bottom part is Station 6: Fujisawa. If you are curious, you can see the original artwork at the bottom of this page.

Features

Sturdy and lightweight, this bumbag keeps your belongings within easy reach when your hands are busy.

The front of the bag is made of obi material and is treated to help the silk last longer. The back is made of a lightweight and resistant 3D mesh. The adjustable belt allows you to wear it around your waist/hips or across your chest.

It is roomy, and the soft back fabric allows the bag to adapt to your body shape when not too full. When you need to pack more, a small water bottle, a notebook, etc. It expands to make more space.

Materials

  • Front: Obi textile, silk, paper, metal

  • Back: off-white 3D mesh polyester & nylon mix

  • Water-resistant zipper

  • Adjustable nylon strap

Size

  • height: 19 cm in the centre front

  • width: 18 cm at the bottom and 29 cm at the largest
