Mikan original creation.

This bumbag is a combination of antique Japanese textiles and new materials. It is handcrafted in my studio in Kyoto.

Details

The main fabric comes from an antique obi and is made of silk. The motif represents an illustration by ukiyo-e artist Utagawa Hiroshige, Station 10: Hakone. It is one of the illustrations from the series The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido, created in 1833-1834).

The back of the bag is made in a lightweight 3D mesh which allows the bag to take minimum space when not full, and perfectly fit against your body. The adjustable strap allows you to wear it either on your waist/hips or across your chest.

Materials

  • Front: antique Japanese obi belt 80%, silk 20% washi paper, gold hints

  • Back: resistant 3D mesh polyester & nylon mix

  • Silver waterproof zipper

  • Adjustable nylon strap

Size

  • height: 19 cm in the centre front
