Seasonal Blooms in Scattered Fans

This obi is composed of a series of fan-shaped scenes, each filled with different flowers and garden motifs. The fans are scattered diagonally across the soft peach ground, creating a rhythm that feels almost like petals or leaves drifting through the composition.

Each fan has a thin gold outline, which is more or less visible depending on the direction of the light (see more photos below).

Inside them, we can see pine, cherry blossoms, irises, chrysanthemums and hydrangeas, bringing together flowers from different moments of the year. The irises and hydrangeas suggest early summer and the rainy season, while chrysanthemums are traditionally associated with autumn.

Rather than following a strict seasonal calendar, the obi brings these different flowers together to create an imaginary garden in bloom. I love the contrast between the delicate, detailed scenes inside the fans and the calm expanse of peach silk around them.

Textile

The background is silk satin, so its colour can appear lighter or darker depending on the direction of the light. This is even more visible in the photos below.
