Kinkakuji in Summer
Motif
Here is Kyoto’s famous Golden Pavillion sitting in a lush garden in the hot summer. How do I know for sure we are in the summer? The irises in bloom in pound are a symbol of early summer. The clover, the chrysanthemums the bell flowers usually bloom at the end of Summer, beginning of Autumn. This wide variety of flowers showcased on the obi would allow you to wear it in Spring or in Autumn.
Composition
This obi is made of silk woven together with washi paper covered with gold and metal leaves. This technique is callled hikinuki.
Framing
When ordering a bag, keep in mind that it might not be possible to feature the entire motif on the same bag. Please indicate your favourite part or colour so I can frame it onto your bag when I create it. I will double check it with you before I start making it. For a larger bag, such as a weekender, the entire motif can be displayed.
